This week’s recipient has definitely earned the title for her commitment and professionalism! This week’s Associate of the Week is Michelle Nantz. Nominated by the Leadership Team and Eric Taylor, here’s what Eric had to say about Michelle:
Michelle is:
-At the office before 9am almost daily
-Balances work schedule with her family’s needs on top of her husband working out of town all week. And since her Mom passed she has a LOT of family needs placed on her!
-Prospects daily and drives the other agents around her to perform at a higher level both professionally and in their daily interactions within the office and out in public
-She is never seen in the workplace in less than professional attire
-She pushes both agents and admins. to be better by providing suggestions instead of just complaining about a situation
-She takes her clients needs extremely serious and works hard to get them the best results

DABA is always looking for new members and new companies to connect with.   They do lots of things for our local community, but there largest effort is certainly the Denver Fireworks every year at East Lincoln High School.  They provide many opportunities for local business owners and citizens to interact and do business together.

The Denver Area Business Association is a non-profit organization that exist to help the businesses in the greater East Lincoln area grow and be profitable.

DABA is not a Chamber of Commerce, instead DABA is an association compiled of business owners and employees, striving to provide leadership, educational and networking opportunities through a host of venues. Monthly networking events; Coffee Connection, Business Luncheon and After Hours, provide members social and business opportunities, guests are welcome and encouraged.

As a community service, we host annual public events; Fireworks Celebration and Taste of Denver to showcase DABA and it’s members to the public.

Don’t forget about our 3rd Annual Denver Christmas Parade this Saturday.  Lake Norman Realty will have a float.  The theme is the 12 Days of Christmas.  It can be quite difficult to put together a float with that theme that pertains to our industry, but luckily, our fearless leader, Shantae Brown, did.  I will share all of our pictures with you after!  Please join us!  It is great fun for the children.

It starts at 2 pm this year.  The route begins on N. Pilot Knob and Hwy 16 for 1 mile to Triangle Circle.

Tree lighting activities are Friday Dec 2nd at Lake Norman Lutheran Church beginning at 6 pm. 

I have viewed the 10 day forecast and we may get away with a perfectly sunny day and a high of 57 degrees.  Unlike the past two years of rain and snow.

They have also provided a little history:  We opened our doors in March 2006 for our first guests and we have welcomed numerous guests from Pennsylvania, Texas, Indiana, Maryland, California, New York, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Vermont, Rhode Island, the UK, New Zealand, as well as North Carolina. We have been pleased that all have been very exclusive guests!

The Blue Heron offers two bedrooms, the Bessie and the Bonnie, named after two of our grandmothers. Both rooms have a water view and include a private bath, exterior entrance and a queen size bed.

Due to liability limitations we are not be able to accept guests under the age of 16, nor allow more than two people to a room. Rex (our outside Border Collie) is rather insistent that we not allow other pets and of course no smoking in the house.

Our dock can accommodate a boat and we welcome guests that wish to arrive from the water.

Our breakfast menu includes a standard breakfast which we will review with you when you make a reservation or when you arrive, and we also have a snack table always stocked with delights. The White Oak Inn Bed and Breakfast is situated in Lincolnton, North Carolina.  The White Oak Inn is a three story, Southern Traditional home with two levels of splendid porches wrapped around the front.  The Bed and Breakfast occupies the lower level and gives guests added privacy.  The 8 ½ acre property is surrounded by an expansive lawn, wooded areas with walking trails, and two ponds.

Guests are taken care of by the owner and innkeeper Patti Fea.  Patti is a professional chef and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, New York.  She has 20 years experience and worked as the executive chef for restaurants and catering companies in Washington, D.C. before moving to North Carolina to open the White Oak Inn.

The Moral of the story, bring your out of town guests to one of these lovely bed & breakfasts and support Lincoln County Business.

In April, the Lincoln Farmers Market opened in two locations, Lincolnton and Denver.  It is coordinated by the Cooperative Extension Office.  Each Saturday, the Lincolnton location opens at 8 am and Denver at 9 am and close at noon. 

The Denver market, at Rock Springs School on N.C. 16, is a Saturday-only market, while Lincolnton – located on West Water Street, just a short distance from the back of the James W. Warren Citizens Center – will add Tuesday and Thursday mornings later in the spring.

In addition to some early-season vegetables, customers can expect vendors to have baked goods, cut flowers, plants, local meat and crafts.

New vendors are always welcome.  Anyone interested in selling should contact Kevin Starr at 704-736-8452 or Kevin_Starr@ncsu.edu to obtain a vendor’s certificate, information about fees and a list of what can be sold at the market.

Many of you may not be aware that Denver Days is moving back to it’s place of origin this year…Rock Springs Elementary School, at the corner of Hwy 16 and St. James Church Road in Downtown Denver.   As usual, you will enjoy rides, games, crafts, jewelry and local business tents. 

The rides will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 4 pm.  They will also be including “Denvers Got Talent” for th second year.

The event is sponsored by the East Lincoln Rotary Club and all proceeds will go toward building East Lincoln Rescue Park.
