My Family and I visited Zootastic last night. It was a truly great time at a very low cost. The Christmas lights were beautiful and the children had fun picking out the characters in the lights. We visited the animals in the barn. They had horses, all types of birds, including peacocks, camels, pigs, and more. The children roasted marshmallows, rodes ponies and Santa was even there.

Zootastic is located at 448 Pilch Road, Troutman NC 28166.

Zootastic Park was the vision of a local NC man, Scottie Brown. Scottie and his family have been working with exotic animals for over 30 years. Zootastic Park is privately owned and operated by Scottie Brown with no federal or state funding.

Five years ago while Scottie and his son were on a 6-hour flight to California, they decided to move forward with the planning and building of Zootastic Park. With both elder and younger Brown excited and determined, preliminary plans and budgets were developed by the time the flight landed. Two years later they broke ground on the first of many buildings, with 3 phases as part of the master plan. Over the course of the next three years Phase 1 of Zootastic Park started to take shape with a Western Town, multiple Animal Barns, and the Exotic Animal facilities.

In November 2009, Zootastic Park opened for the first time to the public with the Christmas Wonderland of Lights. The Zoo featured over 1 million lights through a 2 mile drive-through, Santa Claus, pony rides and much more. This will be an annual tradition at Zootastic for many years to come.

Zootastic Park will be opening the Zoo to the Public on March 6, 2010 with many events in store including Jr ZooKeeper Summer Camp, BBQ at the Zoo for Memorial Day Weekend, Easter Bunny Hop and many other events throughout the year.

Over the next three years Zootastic has great plans to add many more attractions, exhibits, and activities for the community. “We are part of this community,” Brown said, “we want to share our love for animals with our community and have a great place for families to come and enjoy true family time.” Zootastic Park is operated by Scottie Brown, his son Jerod, daughter Sarah, and her husband Shawn.

Only Time Will Tell!

Interest Rates are back down a smidge this week to 4.875% again. There is also talk that the Feds will be reducing rates once again, that would bring them to a 35 year low.

If you are currently looking for a home and anticipate using a FHA loan, please note that minimum credit scores will rise from 580 to 600 on February 3rd.

Move.com/Realtor.com announces the 5 most searched Real Estate Markets Online in December 2008.

A pick up in these markets would mean great things to sellers in NC! Only time will tell!

Why Not List Your Lake Norman Area Home During the Holidays?

The two most asked questions during this time of the year are 1) Should I take my home off the market during the holidays? AND 2) Should I list my house during the holidays?

The Holidays can be a difficult time to have your house shown by Realtors, but it does offer the perfect opportunity to market your home to a new audience.

Lake Norman is a beautiful area to visit during the winter (or any season for that matter). Christmas and New Year’s Guests are abundant in the homes surrounding Lake Norman at this time of year.

With so many visitors, surely a few will be inticed by our mild climate, great schools, and good business opportunities…Not counting great home prices, low interest rates, and fantastic credits that are now available. Many take advantage of longer vacation days during the holidays to go on their house hunting expeditions without losing work days.

All of these reasons, make staying on the market or putting your home on the market during the holidays a good idea!

Playing the role of the seller during the holiday with Realtors attempting to make appointments at difficult times is often a concern. The great thing about CMLS is the use of a showing service. Realtors call this showing service to schedule appts to show your home. When the call comes, if the timing is not perfect then suggest a time that you can work into your winter festivities for a showing.

Do not be concerned about your home being in the perfect state at all times. Christmas decorations in good taste add Charm to a Home and particulary the smells of those great foods and deserts that linger in the air. What a perfect time for a Buyer to see what it is like to call your House..A Home?

With a little help and advice from your Real Estate Professional all of the problems associated with having your home listed during the holidays can be overcome!
