Realtor Care Day - April 23, 2010

A Housing Opportunity Foundation Initiative

I am thrilled to be able to participate in Realtor Care Day with Todd Long’s (BIC Mooresville CBUR) Team, the Blue Squad.  I am not very handy, but certainly cable of picking up trash and such, after all I do have three children.  I am a professional.

Area Realtors® will trade BlackBerrys for toolboxes to make a lasting impression in the lives of homeowners throughout Mecklenburg and Iredell counties on April 23, 2010. Realtors® Care Day is an all-day home-repair project to help those who have critical home maintenance needs.

Equipped with hammers and nails, and armed with a passion to give back, Realtor® crews will replace and repair roofs and gutters, paint entire exteriors of homes, and undertake a host of exterior repairs for more than 30 homeowners identified as those in need by regional Habitat for Humanity chapters and the City of Charlotte Neighborhood and Business Services.

Every day, Realtors® make the American dream a reality – and on April 23 we will come together to help sustain that dream for those who desperately need our help. As housing industry professionals, we are keenly aware that many in our community lack the physical ability and/or financial resources to maintain their homes. The shelter that is supposed to be a comfort instead becomes a burden, and in many cases, is unsafe.
